Prince Andrew’s daughter Princess Eugenie’s newborn baby has been added to the royal line of succession

The royal family has welcomed Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s second baby, Ernest George Ronnie, to their website, officially adding the newborn to the line of succession.

Prince Andrew’s grandson, who was born on May 30, was added to the official list, making him 13th in line to the throne, just behind his big brother August Brooksbank.

Ernest is the first of the late Queen Elizabeth’s great-grandchildren born after her death in September and the third grandchild for the Duke and Duchess of York.

With Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s grandson added to the official line of succession, Princess Eugenie’s uncle Prince Edward moves into a place and Edward’s teenage children James, Viscount Severn and Lady Louise move into Continuity.

Buckingham Palace made the announcement of the new prince’s arrival in a statement, which said: “Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their son, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank.”

Andrew’s daughter also confirmed his arrival in an Instagram post, saying he was named after George’s “great great grandfather, George’s grandfather and my grandfather Ronald.”

Eugenie added: “Augie loves being a big brother already.” Finish the post with blue and red heart emojis.

The Duchess of York also spoke candidly about her grandson’s arrival in an episode of her new podcast, saying: “He’s a very, very seriously beautiful little boy. Now, of course, everyone says that, but of course he is.”
